When we bought our house back in 1981, there were two small Pin Oak trees in the front yard. We like the way they sort of softened up the look of the front of the house, but over the years these two grew and grew. Not only did they grow so much they hung out over the street and our roof as well as the neighbors roofs. Two years ago we had the tree on the right side removed and today will say good-bye to the second one.
They turned out to be just terribly messy trees dropping small acorns every where, clogging up the gutters and getting perilously close to falling on the power lines across the street. I am really happy to see the last tree be taken away.
Diane, Who did you hire to cut the tree down.

Frank, we use Ahlers. This is the second time and have been really happy with them.

That is who I have a quote from. They do a good job, but expensive. I will have him trim Cheery trees in the back yard, and when the Pin Oak trees are finally devastated by the Oak Gall, I will have him take them down. Thanks for letting me know.

As to expensive, yes, the cost has gone up from when we used them last year. But, we had a nice long visit with him and he feels bad about the pricing, but his costs have doubled and tripled. He is a great guy, he and his guys came in around 9:30 and took down the huge tree, chipped, ground the stump, cleaned up nicely and were gone by 11:30. Amazing.
