Dale is one of the speakers at a Lutheran district convention this week and when he called this morning he surprised me with a new idea. He is interested in us getting Apple watches. Now this came out of no where and I am not especially thrilled by the idea. It seems to me to be just one more thing that has to be always with us, but worse, one more thing that has to be set up.
Setting up means finding all the user names and passwords which is a real pain. But even more I wonder how much I'd like to be looking at a small display. I know people who have them and they are using it like an ipad or iphone. They can keep track of everything and everyone by looking at their wrists.
After doing a bit of checking I was surprised to learn that these watch also check fitness levels, heart rates, oxygen rates and even know if you fall. Do I want all this? I just don't know.
I've had an Apple Watch for 5 or 6 years and like it a lot. I don't remember it being a pain to set up; of course, mine doesn't have all these new bells and whistles. When you buy the watch, the Apple store helps you with set up and they also have classes you can take for free. Walt has a Garmin watch that tracks all of his exercises.

I love my Apple watch. I can go on my walks without my phone. When I forgot my phone and was heading to a Synod convention, I could connect my headphones to my phone and keep on going. Could even do texting! It also helps me find my phone when I've set that down somewhere. There is a Toy Story watch face that entertains my grands when I'm with them. I have an older one. Not sure I want all the newer whistles and bells. I appreciate the fitness part. I think it's great. My only wish is that it was smaller.

BTW, my son was sitting behind Dale for the opening service of that convention last night. ;)

Kat, he's in Iowa? How fun. I guess I've kind of more interested in the watch thanks to you and Barb.

Paul has a dual parish an hour from Okaboji. You just might like the watch!
