On Friday morning I was headed to Glen Carbon to check out the Books A Million book store. It was raining. At some point before I got into Maryville my drivers side windshield wiper slipped out of its arm bracket. Believe me, I started to panic. There was no place to stop, I was not yet at some place in Maryville where I could pull over. I just kept hoping the rain would not come down really hard so that I wouldn't be able to see. Finally I got to the Red Apple restaurant and parked in the lot after which I fiddled with the wiper part, trying to get it back into the arm part. But I could not do it, it was a mystery to me.
Looking around I didn't see a gas station or any kind of place that dealt with cars. I was getting wetter and wetter. Finally I noticed a sign tucked into the side of the parking lot which said, CARSTAR auto repair and towing in the back. Frankly I did not see the actual business until I got out of the car and walked behind the Red Apple. There it was back aways and I have to say this was a miracle, small maybe, but a miracle just the same.
I carried the rubber wiper into the office and the nice woman asked how they could help. After explaining she went to the back and talked to a man working. After a few minutes I saw him start putting on his jacket and heading toward me. We walked to my car in the rain and after a few minutes he had that darn wiper piece set back into the frame. You have no idea what a relief this was even though I was soaking wet.
He was so nice and would not except any payment. So, I really would go back there should we have need of body work on our cars. They don't have a website as far as I can find, but worth looking for if you need someone.
