You can make a good plant fertilizer out of banana peels. Steep a banana peel into a jar of water for 24-48 hours and water plants with this. Bananas are a good source of potassium, phosphorus and calcium and watering plants with this once in a while will give strong growth. Now that we are beginning to think about outdoor planting this is a good, cheap way to ensure good plant growth.
I am planning on doing something today I've always hated to do-clean the inside of our oven. Our oven is a GE gas range and the manual gives a couple of options for cleaning the interior. The first is to pour a cup of water right into the middle of the oven floor and then push the steam clean button. This will steam the inside for 20 minutes and then I'd wipe things down at the end. I've never done this, but may do so today. I have used the normal self cleaning setting and hated it because it heats up high and goes for 4 hours. The door will not open until the 4 hours is up and that drove me crazy, it got so hot in the house.
Advice for cleaning the glass door is to use a vinegar water solution so I'll try that as well, maybe before the steam clean. Another recommendation is to spot clean burned on areas on the oven floor with Bar Keepers Friend scouring powder. I do use this a lot for many things and like how it works, but the problem I've had with Bar Keepers is that the powder in the can will oven clump up so much nothing comes out. Why this is, I don't know and how to stop it I don't know either. So I usually go buy a fresh can.
