I find it frustrating to come across news stories dealing with local things, linked by the Belleville paper. But the stories are not readable unless you subscribe to the paper. The odd thing is, this paper is about as thin as a sheet of copy paper. It used to be the go to paper for Metro East people, filled with all sorts of things of interest. Not now, at least in the hard copy.
I have no idea what has happened, maybe no advertisers, but it's sad. But I am not going to subscribe to the online version. I still can't get over how tiny this paper is when it's tossed on people's lawns.
I surrendered and bought a subscription on a special. I can't remember the cost but it was a special for 6 months or so. I needed it to see Obituaries. I have many relatives in Clinton County, and with the Catholic Diocese being in Belleville, they treat Belleville as the Capitol of Illinois, and all obituaries for Clinton County are usually in the Belleville paper. The paper subscription rate is outrageous and the paper is owned by a conglomerate like Disney World's owners, I think.

I just cancelled my subscription. I’ve gotten the paper for over 50 years. So sad. Had so much trouble trying to read any part of it online even though I had a subscription.
