While clearing off bookshelves recently, weeding out things which need to go, I came across a vanilla envelope. Inside was a 20 page, typewritten American history project Lizzie did when she was a junior in high school. The assignment was to interview a family member on their past. She chose my parents and made the trip to the Chicago suburbs with a tape recorder and sat with them one afternoon asking question after question on their childhood, where they met, their parents and grandparents.
She then had to type it all up while listening to the playback. This was before computers! It's amazing to me that even our kids knew a life before computers. She had to type on an actual typewriter. But this 20 page assignment is pure gold. There are so many pieces of information I never knew and my sister was just as amazed. i made copies and sent them to her.
I hope the high school history teachers are still assigning this type of project paper because it's priceless.
As you can see the original has yellowed and the copy is still bright white. I have to believe I found this just in time.
Amazing! What a priceless treasure

I am sure many of his students still have the research project that they worked on. A very noble and helpful assignment. I am happy you found your.
