Wine tasting

Every summer the owner of the Barefoot Charlie winery in Northern Michigan brings several of his wines for the Camp Arcadia guests to try.  Today was our day.

A pinot gris, a rose, a riesling and a Murmur white.

Camp director Chip May introduced and gave us the procedures for how the tasting would work.  One wine at a time, basically.

I have more to put up, but we have no wireless up here and very little cell service so things are hit and miss.

Moving in day

After a week of being in St Louis without their stuff or their husband/father, the moving van and husband/father arrived this morning. 

The boys will finally have their own things in their own house. 

 

Learning to be safe during a heat wave

Last night Fox 2 meteorologist Dave Murray mentioned that during the 1980 St. Louis heat wave, 150 people died, many because they did not have or did not turn on, their air conditioners.

This summer's heat wave which may well be comparable to 1980, has seen 13 people die.  Most of those died for the same reasons as 1980. 

What this tells us is the city of St. Louis, the local media, volunteer organizations, police, fire, etc, have done a spot on job of getting the word out about the importance of keeping cool and turning those air conditioners on.  The metro area has also seen many groups hitting the streets with supplemental air conditioners for those who did not have them. 

Wine ties beer

Now here's a Gallup poll which won't give you political heartburn.

For only the second time in two decades wine has tied beer as the resondents drink of choice between liquor, wine or beer.

Oddly, the 36% favoring beer is the lowest Gallup has recorded since they began tracking this topic.
