How many high schools get to be 30 point favorites going into a playoff game? The Stratford Texas Elks, situated up in the panhandle are in just that position as they take on the Tulia Hornets in a Class 2A bidistrict playoff game tonight.
Stratford, last year's class 1A state champion has moved up one division and are suddenly becoming a force again this year. I'm not sure what a bidistrict playoff is, but to be thought 30 points better is something. Let's see if the Elks can make it through the playoffs to the championship game as they have done the past 2 years.
Added Saturday morning: Stratford beats Tulia 34-6 which means the odds makers were almost right on, the Elks winning by 28. According to the Amarillo Globe News, the defense for Stratford was spectacular, as was the offense. Stratford's defense smothered Tulia most of the game. The Hornets wound up with only 13 yards.
