One story from our stay in Chicago made me sit up and take notice. Chicago hot dogs are the best, no matter what those people in New York City say about Nathans, but the biggest problem with making them at home has always been what to do with the left over buns. There have always been too many buns per package than hot dogs per package. Now, the Vienna all beef dog folks are going to fix that. In a collaboration with bun maker, S. Rosen, makers of those fine poppy seed hot dog buns are going to package their products so that they even out. 8 hot dogs per pack, 8 buns per pack and etc.
The funniest aspect to this story is that it seems to have taken a demonstration in front of the Thompson Center to get the attention of the dog and bun makers. Of all the things going on worthy of a demonstration, who would have thought of this one? Chicago, my kind of town. Just keep those Vienna Red Hots coming...and maybe coming down this way. Then the rest of the hot dog and bun makers, the lesser lights out there, ought to take note.
Aw, c'mon, actually, Zweigle's from Rochester, NY are the best hot dogs, but Chicago and NYC can keep dreaming...

The best hot dog I ever had was at a little bar in the florida keys. They take tequilla, lime and salt, put it in a shot glass, and call it a "Hot Dog".
Mmmm, mmmm, good!
