I was standing in line at the grocery store yesterday and happened to be behind a man who was paying for 4 large pink flamingos. No food, just 4 pink flamingos-big. I started wondering why he needed 4 and from there my mind went to what he was going to use them for. Did he have a big yard which would make planting only one unnoticable? Or was he buying them for his neighbors as well as himself? Is there to be some sort of funny "all block yard sale" and flamingos were going to be set out at the corners to attract attention? Why 4? Maybe some of his last year's birds flew off over the winter and he needed to replenish the flock? I didn't ask. Should have. I looked down at my items of Jasmine rice and dog food and felt...kind of...pedestrian.
We have a friend at our church who hates pink flamengos. Maybe he is doing like we do. That is, every special occasion that takes place at their house some one buys a flamengo as a gift to present to the hostess.
