Local weather has been scaring us for several days about the possibility of icing and glazing on area roads tomorrow (Sunday). This incessant reporting has filled the grocery stores to capacity and made me decide to get over to Collinsville early so I would be able to go to church at Holy Cross. I figure if it does happen, I'll just stay here until Monday. So Ferdie and I drove over and spent the day taking down Christmas and doing some shopping. What I love about Collinsville is you can drive a circle around the city and find just about anything you need or want. I went to Kruta's, Rural King, Home Depot, Walmart and Schnucks without leaving town. There are many great places to eat as well.
I will say, though, Ferdie is never quite thrilled about being here. He endures it because he wants to be where I am, but he'd much prefer being on the campus. Here he is tonight, he's either really tired, sad about Kansas City losing the football game, or pining for his real home.
I will say this, though, the Collinsville Connection Facebook page has me very wary of Coyotes. It sounds like they're everywhere and the cautions for pet owners is worrisome. Ferdie and I took a walk this afternoon and ended up on Autumn Avenue. There was a fox staring at us from the wooded end of the street. I doubt foxes will attack, but you never know. We turned around and went back toward Vandalia all the while that fox kept his eyes on us.
