Here's an unusual thing at a fairly new Walmart. About a year or so ago a new Walmart opened on Watson Road in Shrewsbury. It's a nice store, pretty typical of that company except for one thing. There is only one entrance/exit door and it is located on the far right side of the building as you look at it. At the other end there's a fence around the garden center which will probably be open once the planting season starts up but for now there is only one way in and one way out.
Most Walmarts have two main doors plus a seasonal garden center door, Collinsville has three. Here's the thing about the Shrewsbury Walmart. Because everyone wants to park as close to the door as possible, all the parking spaces on that side of the lot are taken, then the middle part of the lot fills up and then a later shopper is stuck on the far left. This means you park on the left, walk all the way over to the right to get into the store and if what you want to buy is at the far left of the store you walk back through the store all the way left. Then the check out lines are on the right so you walk back that way again. Head out the door and you're walking to your car all the way back in the other direction.
It's sort of mind boggling that this store only has one door on the far right. I've had to go to this particular store a couple of times lately and found this rather unbelievable compared to the other Walmarts. It's not life altering but it is a bit of a pain and I wonder if the construction company who built this store made a mistake reading the plans and just didn't add the middle door and then it was too late to change it.
