After all was said and done, Missourians voiced opposition to sales tax for highways and a veterans lottery ticket, but supported farms, the right to bear arms and the extension of privacy to electronic devices.
I was rather surprised at the surprise by local news people last night to the overwhelming defeat of the transportation tax amendment. The commentary by voters on various sites pretty much reflected what we felt about this sales tax to benefit MoDOT which was using a sales tax was not the right way to go about highway funding.
Charlie Dooley lost his primary bid to continue as St. Louis Country Board Chairman and probably the only one shocked by this landslide loss was Dooley himself.
On a personal note, a good friend of our daughter Katie won the race for prosecuting attorney in Miller Country which is Lake Osark area. Ben Winfrey was a Mizzou classmate of Katie's and has worked hard to get where he is today. We expect even bigger things from Ben in the future.
