Every year students work part time on grounds and landscape here at the seminary and each year there is a turnover as some graduate or head off to vicarage and new students take their place. There's a learning curve when it comes to using power equipment, but after months of on the job training even the most novice of guys becomes a pro in handling the toughest machinery. They're taught well.
Last year Jacob came on the job and by spring he was able to cut down a big oak tree all by himself while under the watchful eye of an experienced student.
This morning Jacob is watching as new Dan, a vicarage returnee and new grounds guy, gets the chainsaw.
Actually I don't believe Jacob let Dan do the actual stump removal, but we did need to get Dan on record as being part of the grounds crew.
