Found my newest favorite chocolate ice cream. Finally. In past years when I found an ice cream I couldn't do without, it disappeared. It began with Sheer Bliss dark chocolate, from a company based in Florida. It came in a metal can and was sooo good. Then the Sheer Bliss company stopped shipping to the St. Louis market. And then, it seems, went out of business.
After taste testing various other dark chocolate ice creams I found Haagen Dazs Dark Chocolate which was even better than the Sheer Bliss. After settling in with a confidence that comes from knowing the stability of the Haagen Dazs company, it came as a shock when they stopped producing the dark chocolate. I can't tell you how many times I accosted the local ice cream regional guy about this, it seemed impossible they'd stop making it. The regular chocolate from H-D is bland and pale.
So I crossed over to the liberal minded Ben and Jerry's for their Chocolate Fudge Brownie which is good, but to my taste, it is more brownie than ice cream. But all of a sudden, out of no where, I spotted a new Ben and Jerry's product-Chocolate Therapy. It's perfect, I tell you, perfect. There are other things in it as always with this company, but in such small amounts, they're barely noticeable.
Now, hopefully, this isn't going to be one of those pints that show up for awhile and then disappear for no reason. Their website touts its popularity: "Oh, the drama! This scoop shop-only concoction has gotten so popular, folks from all over have implored us to make more Chocolate Therapy® more accessible everywhere. Now, when you're looking to treat yourself to some primal s'cream therapy of the sublimest chocolate kind, you'll find it's all kinds of available: over-the-counter in scoop shops and behind freezer doors in stores. So get a grip (on your spoon, silly!) and ...Enjoy!"
