The American Legion was the site of a weekend Romp for Legion Riders from all over the country. If you drove down Vandalia Friday and Saturday you probably saw the Collinsville property filled with people, tents, orange temporary fencing, and motorcycles. And music. Since we were practically on site, we spent some time watching the goings on from the front porch.
One of the events was a rodeo...well...a rodeo of sorts. The crowd in the picture above is watching a strong man (and woman) contest which involved seeing who could hold a water filled gallon milk jug in each hand the longest while hold the arms straight out at shoulder height.
But the rodeo event that I found fun involved these:
Two lines of stuffed animals.
The competition involved two motorcycles with a man driving and a woman on the back. The idea was to see which woman could scoop up the most stuffed animals as the man drove.
After dinner we took Ferdie for a walk through the highway work and on to the Holy Cross cemetery.
I love this picture of Dale and Ferdie checking out the big storm drain.
The safest place to walk on the weekend.
