A Consumer Reports survey of people who eat out lists what bothers people most about restaurants. Dirty restrooms and utensils tops everything. This comes from the current issue of Consumer Reports on newsstands now.
After driving from St. Louis to DC and back last week, we had many occasions to stop to eat at various highway places and we never knew which place would be clean and which would not. Chain restaurants varied in cleanliness from stop to stop, the ickiest being a McDonald's in Terra Haute. The bathrooms were yuck and the employees were the scruffiest and unkempt employees we've ever seen. The best was Sheetz, a gas station/fast food chain on the mid east coast. Sheetz was so clean it made everything better.
