2 things happened this week which we found aggravating and disconcerting.
We have had a mouse in the house for some time who foiled every attempt at being caught. I did the peanut butter on the trap many times only to wake up and find he'd licked it completely off without snapping the trap. Finally I tried cream cheese hoping he wouldn't be able to eat it without being caught. Nope. We never saw the mouse, just knew he was around. Finally I did a google search on the best way to catch a mouse and came across a video put out by a man who swore his method would work. He softened a piece of Tootsie Roll and molded it across the top of the mouse trap trigger. He said the mouse would be attracted to the candy but would have to work harder to eat it, thus snapping the trap. I tried it and by golly this worked almost immediately. We got the little bugger.
Then yesterday as we were sitting outside in the late afternoon, Dale looked around and then asked, "What happened to the Adirondeck loveseat?" It had been in the back of the yard by the water feature and sure enough, it was gone. Stolen. Who steals a rather heavy chair and is able to haul it off from an awkward area with no road for a getaway? It would have to have taken two people. This was really depressing.
It's easier to catch a mouse than thieves.
