I do this sort of post every January 1, inviting one and all to look for the Lutheran Hour float in the Rose Parade. This means a lot to us Lutherans for many reasons, especially because the Petal Pushers affliated with Lutheran Hour Ministries work on many of the floats you'll see throughout the parade. They do this with the help of thousands of volunteers who travel to Pasadena the week before New Year's and spend their days attaching flowers and other decor onto floats.
Dale road on the LH float twice and interestingly, each year the float uses the same church as their main feature, changing the theme and how it's decorated. I wrote about our family's experience at the Rose Parade and football game from 1997 as Dale and Phyllis Wallace road the float and the rest of use made our way somehow.
This year the Lutheran Hour float will be 83rd out of 91 entrants in the parade. The Rose Committee slots each entrant and attempts to change their place in the order each year so each float/band etc will eventually be near the top or near the bottom or in the middle as years go by.
