Yesterday was so nice (60 degrees!), Dale was home for the first time in a week, the snow was gone, all combined to make it possible to get the Christmas village houses that Dale has made and which sit in our side yard during the holidays, put away. About a year and a half ago Dale built what he thought was going to make things like the buildings easy to haul back to the house, a trailer type thing I named "the buckboard". He constructed it with long pieces of deck lumber, added wheels and a hitch. Problem was it never worked well when hooked up to the campus Kobota. After tinkering with it off and on and making many trips to Home Depot and Rural King, he finally got it to the point where it would travel in a straight line. Here's what the whole village move looked like by yesterday afternoon.
and started off across the field to the road.
There's Ferdie, running alongside.
Finally safe and sound in the driveway. Dale was so proud his buckboard worked.
Then the tiring part of carrying them down to the basebment where they'll warm up until they reappear next year. With another addition most likely.
