Five years ago today we adopted Ferdie from Dirk's Fund Golden Retriever Rescue and brought him to his new home on the seminary campus. January of 09 was a tough month for Ferdie after being dumped at a curb in a Collinsville neighborhood on one of the coldest and snowiest nights that month. From there people in that neighborhood got him to the Bilhartz animal shelter where Bob from Dirk's located him and took him to his place. Dale and I had seen him in the Collinsville shelter but Bob beat us to him. While at Dirks he was neutered and finally allowed to be adopted by us. He was with us 3 days when we realized he'd developed pneumonia and was back at a vet for treatment. But after recovering he settled in to his new home with great joy.
His early story can be found in the comments by Tracy in the first link, one of the neighbors who tried to get him in out of the cold after being dumped.
At Christmas I linked a bunch of Ferdie pictures for Bob to look at and see how Ferdie's life is now, and you can see them by clicking the Ferdie to Bob message at the top left of the blog page.
