We decided shortly before Christmas that we were going to spend some time over break purging stuff from our house and first thing on the list is going to be those ubiquitous, huge, plastic storage bins. I've never liked them because they take up so much room and are so stiff, bulky and ugly that nothing else can go where they are. But my kids liked them to keep their valued stuff when they were in high school and college. But they left school, got married, had kids and never came back for the memorabilia. So the bins and the stuff will go. I will however, take pictures of some of the things in the bins so they can tell me if anything is worth keeping.
The Post Dispatch has a front page photo today of post Christmas shoppers with a cart full of these bins. I mean really? How many of these things can a house hold?
Bed Bath and Beyond has an ad today with softer storage things and in the long run may be much easier to shove in closets.
Not totally heartless, I have given fair warning.
