According to Rick Hummel of the Post Dispatch:
"The Cardinals have a 3-1 lead in a championship series for the third time. They have the lost the first two, in 1996 to Atlanta and last year to San Francisco. In both those previous series, they lost the fifth game at home and then had to go on the road, where they lost the sixth and seventh games both times.
They are the only National League team to have lost a 3-1 lead in an NLCS and they have done it twice."
As if these low scoring games haven't been nervewracking enough, there's nothing like some baseball statistical history to ruin the good feeling after last night's win.
