So said an IDOT spokesman about the ten day closure of eastbound I-64 in Illinois which began last night. "There will be significant backups. It will mean that four eastbound lanes will have to squeeze into the two lanes of I-55/70 at the split."
And an FYI for anyone trying to decide on the best route into Illinois- "During the closure, the Eads and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge will probably not take most highway drivers around the anticipated congestion."
When IDOT can't even find a way to put the best construction on the next week, you know it's bad.
