Did it. Have a new ice cream maker, went to the store and got all the ingredients needed for dark chocolate ice cream. This is not cheap, heh, so it better be worth it. The part of the maker which holds the whisked and heated and melted and chilled chocolate, cream, skim milk, egg yolks, dark cocoa, sugar, chopped dark chocolate and vanilla has been in the freezer for over a day. All I'm waiting for now is the cooked, if that is the right word, ingredients to chill completely and in they will go to the Cuisanart.
Check back to see if this comes up as deliciously as advertised. Thanks to Kathy S, Barb and Lizzie and others who recommended this machine.
Ok, here's the finished product. Well almost finished, it needs to go in the freezer for a couple hours to chill to more ice cream like as opposed to soft serve. But if you like soft serve, it's absolutely ready.
In the bowls and headed for the freezer. I tasted it and yes, it is really really good. But I'll wait until later tonight as I always do for a larger portion. The only thing that troubled me was that the canister the ingredients get poured into is so cold that a lot of the ice cream froze to the inside wall and won't clean off. I guess we have to wait til it thaws down.
The Cuisinart ICE 21 worked perfectly and very quickly. The instructions say less than 20 minutes and it was much less than that.
