And you have to bring wine to a party or order wine when out to eat and you don't know what you're doing, there's a book for you. The Beer Drinker's Guide to Wine Drinking.
But, in case you don't want to buy or read this book, here's a quick synopsis.
If your beer preference is:
Light Beer: Pino Grigio
• Regular Lager– Riesling
• Heavier/Bolder Lager: Chardonnay
• Pale Ale: Shiraz
• IPA: Pino Noir (Pinor Noir is said to be the skeleton key to the human palate, by the way) or Zinfandel
• Stout: Cabernet Sauvignon
I like wine, had a good teacher back in the day, Sam the wine manager at the former Fairview Heights Corral Liquors. Sam is no longer around but he gave me information and tastings everytime I went in there. Learned much about wine and which wines I prefered. It takes some time to have the confidence to say you don't much care for a wine a haughty wine expert raves about, but in the end it opens a whole new world of food and drink.
