    You paid for the Watermelon Queen

    While there may be cuts to the number of food inspectors due to the sequester, the USDA (US Department of Agriculture still plans on doling out grants. Last year one of those grants, $25,000, went to fund the appearances of Alabama's Watermelon Queen (number 86 at the link) as she went around promoting the consumption of the melon.
