The National Science Foundation is still funding robosquirrels and shrimp on treadmills, along with other questionable projects funded by over $3 million in grants. Yes, the federal government spent $500,000 running shrimp on treadmills.

Diane, thanks for putting these wasteful spending items on line. Have used a few for education of some of my liberal friends. Everytime I see one of these post, I think, of Rand and how he knows this is a vast right wing conspiracy to get rid of important research.

Where, exactly, did the $500K go. No doubt a lot of it paid for the salaries of scientists. So now y'all are deciding we should put others on unemployment to save some furloughs?? And, yes, research is important even if it's not the way you would spend the money.
And of course some of that money no doubt went to purchase equipment from companies owned and run by conservatives. In fact, they probably lobbied Congress to get funding for these projects y'all find so objectionable.
