Lots of discussion in the news about what really goes on when the Catholic Cardinals are in a locked room to choose a new Pope. Most likely no one outside that group really knows exactly how things work, but this explanation by John Thavis provides some insight. Thavis is a reporter who specializes in Vatican affairs.




Not to be disrespectful to Catholics, I don't get all the hype over selecting a Pope. I don't see al this attention paid to other religous organizations, when they chose a new leader. All I can think of is the Vatican has a better PR department.
