Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have discovered that nanoparticles carrying a toxin found in bee venom can destroy human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) while leaving surrounding cells unharmed.
More to come on this I'm sure but it looks like it could be very good news.

Wash U is heavily endowed and I'd guess it was funded by entities which have an interest in the outcome.

The Washington Times states "Their research had been funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, both entities within NIH." I think a lot of the research you question may have more important results than you give credit for.
