Ever since the new chapel sidewalks were completed we've been waiting for the granite inlays to be placed. This is something new for the seminary, adding text to concrete for that extra pop and as explanation of where you are. Yesterday the guys from Wachter construction were back and under the supervision of Jeff they began the process of setting in the heavy Chapel Plaza inlays.
They arrived and went over the process while Jeff finished removing the temporary sand that was in the slots.
They all took time to greet Ferdie
Then Jeff realized that they better get confirmation as to which way the writing would face so Steve was called in to confirm.
Yep, face the words toward oncoming foot traffic.
Then the stone masons struggled for a time over a new type of quick set concrete which had to be laid in the opening very thinly, wet, but not too wet, thin but not too thin. This process took the longest but in the end it got done very professionally.
And Jeff being the perfectionist he is, he checked the stone every which way from every angle.
I'd say perfect. And then it was down to the other end to begin the process all over.
Jeff waited for the others with Ferdie, both of them taking a quick breather. Moving stone as heavy as those inlays is hard work.
It looks great except that last night when we went out for one last walk we saw the dreaded orange cones again. But today the stone will be cleaned and they'll be gone.

Thanks for these and all of the other pictures which you post.
