For some reason KSDK decided to ignore what by all accounts was a beautiful and moving city celebration of Martin Luther King. Quotes from some of the many who were there:
"The MLK celebration service at Wilkerson Chapel was wonderful. I wish we could get together in each others' churches more often than once a year. But it was filled with song and the Word of God. The 3 young people who read Dr. King's I have a Dream speech were wonderful. Pastor Berry's message was inspiring. Thank you Lord for all your blessings."
"Just got home from the 3rd annual Collinsville Ministerial Association's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. service at Wilkerson Chapel A.M.E. church. To quote the Mayor, "WOW!" What a great gathering! Everyone was wonderful, the worship, the Collinsville Area Community Choir, Pastors Amsden, Duff, Stark, Berry, Horn, the three youth who presented Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech, the choir leaders and piano players, and EVERYONE who had a part in it! Pastor Berry's sermon was spot on, encouraging us to work together in a spirit of love and unity. Great, encouraging and inspiring night. Collinsville is blessed to have this kind of leadership in the churches. Regarding the assembly tonight, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity...for there the Lord commanded a blessing!" Ps 133"
Instead the tv station decided to focus on city hall being closed but employees having to work on MLK day.
