This is the beginning of that part of the year when you won't be able to count on bananas being as good as they are at other times of the year. In the stores they are either very green and don't ripen well at home or they have a grayish cast and are soggy when peeled. It must have something to do with shipping in weather which is winterish.
This morning I took a bite of a grayish yellow banana and all of a sudden I realized that piece was crunchy. I mean I could hear the crunching in my ears as I tried to finish it. Went to the kitchen and broke the rest of it in half and the entire center from top to bottom was a dark brown stripe of something. I hope it was seeds gone bad and nothing else.

You should be buying your bananas from Farmer's Market in Collinsville. Fresh produce and a great selection.
