Senator Harry Reid is asking the Senate Rules Committee to allow popcorn and other snacks to be eaten at a special viewing of the movie Lincoln in the Capitol Visitor Center. Bringing food in is against the Senate's rules, but on December 19 Reid is hosting a special showing of the movie for his fellow senators and their wives.
Here's my reaction: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I would not care in the slightest if they were allowed to bend the rules for one night if it were not for the fact that the rest of us in this country are now subjected to more regulations than ever before. Rules aimed at every aspect of our lives. Rules thought up by members of the House and Senate and employees of federal agencies. From September to November 6125 new regulations were posted by the federal government website.
So you want popcorn Senator Reid when the rest of us would not have that option? You guys make the rules and now you have to put up with them like the rest of us.

AMEN! TELL THEM! Where is my info re my SS & cost of my med insurance?

Wow Ron, you've gone from "maybe they should help the local economy" to worrying they might be helping the local economy too much. Flip-flopping in true Republican/Romney fashion.
I fully understand what Diane intended. I just think picking only on Harry Reid when McConnell was also involved, and using their getting permission to have popcorn with their movie as the example is laughable.
There are all types of regulations you and I can circumvent by getting permission. What comes to mind is drinking alcohol in the park. Verboten in San Diego, except when a group of Irishmen get together on St. Patrick's Day and get permission for a beer garden. (Others get permission too, not picking on my fellow Irishmen.) Why is this Reid/McConnell thing any different? There are just way too many real issues to bring forward than to whine about popcorn at the movies.
As far as inviting the celebs none were commanded to appear. And the Q&A will be with Senators from both sides of the aisle. To insinuate there is a quid pro quo here is to no longer be dealing with reality.

I stand behind my statement and I figured Rand would have plenty to say.I believe that probably 90% of those people in government think they are royalty.
