Aaron Boerst, one of our students here at Concordia Seminary who often works part time on grounds took it upon himself to do a bit of chain saw sculpting the other day. He turned a large Oak tree stump into a chair which he named the Luther Park Thinking Chair. Actually the park is named Concordia Park, but whatever. The stump/chair faces Kaldi's Coffee shop and Jimmy's on the Park.
Aaron wrote: "There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him...Isaiah 11:1-2
As you can see he even carved out a foot rest.
The seat itself is deep, the back and sides wrap around you with an added bit of lower back support.
Here's what you see when you sit on it.
Aaron also wrote to the seminary people and anyone else who walks through the park: "Merry Christmas Concordia
Solo Dei Gloria '12"
Thank you so much Aaron, this is a wonderful addition to the public side of the campus.
