Last week Amtrak began using a 15 mile section of track north of Bloomington Illinois on which trains will run 110 miles per hour which means a faster trip to Chicago from St. Louis. In the next 3 years the company hopes to have 75 percent of the track up to high speed. This is very cool.

Good to see updates to the track to make the roadbed safer. Calling this a high speed train is a reach.
The train will still have to travel the Alton to St. Louis track at a speed of about 15 to 20 miles per hour.
