Nebraska highways will soon be replacing the traditional green signs pointing out things of interest ahead of exits. I must say, they sure catch the eye. For instance:
I picked this one for all the Nebraska Cornhusker fans out there.
The state Tourism Commission is handling this and will pay for the signs from their 4.6 million dollar budget at a cost of $4300 a piece. Interesting fact, travelers or tourists spent 4 billion dollars in the state in 2010 and Nebraska saw 583 million of that in tax revenue. This is Nebraska! 4 billion in tourist money, amazing.
37 new signs will go up along the length of I-80, with the first 10 to appear by Thanksgiving. The remainder will be up before next summer. Very cool.
