Each year on the Saturday after Labor Day, the Maplewood Aquatic Center opens the pool just for dogs. This is a highly anticipated day by dog owners and local dogs and although many just love the water, others love chasing each other around the pool deck. Ferdie can't get enough of this. Although he has no interest in fetching a ball on dry ground, he'll swim out into the water to retrieve as long as you keep tossing it in.

We got there just after it opened so Ferdie had the pool too himself as the other early birds ran around the edge of the pool and grass like maniacs.
He's watching the goof balls who haven't caught on that being in the water is where they should be.
Ferdie had no interest in that nonsense.
Got the ball and came back, dropped it, shook himself off and wanted to go again.
Loren came with Mimi. That was fun, Mimi understands the idea of pools. They're for Swimming.
They are both very focused on the ball and the swim.
Loren had her camera, I had mine. Mimi was spitting out her ball.
Loren uses her telephoto lens to get a shot of Ferdie heading into the deap end.
We watched a man try to get his St. Bernard into the water. What a hoot.
By golly he did it, but the big guy mainly stood there.

Very cool Diane. Cowboy won't chase a ball anywhere.

Does he like to swim? Glad to hear about Cowboy.

Sounds like a perfect day, Ferdie. Good to see Mimi as well. Of course the best pool is the seminary fountain.
