We always sit out in the yard and hope to see hot air balloons from the Great Forest Park Balloon Race float in the distance. Normally they fly in a northwesterly direction but yesterday, wowser, they drifted south west and came right over the Concordia Seminary campus. At least the south side of the campus. Ferdie and I decided to walk down into the Sieck building parking lot to see if there were any balloons coming when all of a sudden a roar went up from people sitting in Demun Park. I looked up and there was the Energizer Bunny right next to Luther Tower. I ran faster than I've had to run in years, yelling at Dale to get out of his lawn chair and up the hill. He thought there was something wrong until he he saw:
Some photos look much better clicked.
From then on it was a sprint from one part of campus to another.
And then by our dorm parking lot looking east was this
There's Dale in the east Library parking lot. I called out, "Dale look! the balloon is headed right into the high rise.
He turned to take a picture just as it slid over the building.
Down the alley they flew
Until they got to the former CBC high school.
They floated over the soccer field and headed to Clayton Road.
We met up with Loren and her camera, she lives right across the street.
Ferdie had no idea why I'd break into a spring without warning, but he enjoyed it.
Off into what turned out to be one of the most dramatic sunsets ever.
Darren, Lizzie, Connor and Christian drove in and we watched the balloons keep coming and coming. They boys liked the Popcorn balloon.

Some of those shots are Sem Calendar 2013 worthy
