A totally First Amendment issue. Talk all you want about contraception-everyone uses it, it's wrong to make people not use it-that is not the main issue in the HHS mandate. The mandate absolutely infringes on the freedom of religion. And that is why Obama and HHS rightfully find themselves up the proverbial creek.
And now there is talk Obama may come out with an accomodation today, to try and quell the uproar. Here's a Tweet which pretty much speaks to that:
"Since when did religious liberty become an accomodation?" Kathryn Lopez
Mandate is such an ugly word. We are all Catholics now.

People should keep this in mind as they vote this year. Another Obama win and as they say,"you ain't seen nothing yet."

The majority of the Catholic women want contraceptives. It is just a political ploy by the church hierarchy, who don't have a clue about their members' practices.

You are right on, Diane. Today's ploy by the White House doesn't change anything. This is absolutely an assault on religious freedom, and the camel's nose is not the only thing under the tent--his neck, head and shoulders are there, too. This not only unconstitutional, but outrageous. If I post again, I won't hold back, but tell you how I really feel.

Frank, you miss the whole point.
This is about the government telling people and religous bodies what they must do, even if it in conflict with their religious doctrine.
Maybe your willing to go down that slippery slope, but most people with a concern for freedom and liberty are not.

Frank this is not about what employees want, they may pay for whatever they wish for, Catholic or not. It is about what their employers are forced to pay for that may conflict their beliefs or their very missions.
Forget contraception and religious freedom for a minute. My company health insurance is going up 20% this year and I resent any number of mandates which are a part of that increase.
My hunch is our employees will resent how this increase cuts into their raises as well. Some will think I should pay more taxes to keep them whole. If my taxes go up there is one thing certain, there will be fewer employees to worry about it.
