The St. Louis Audubon Society has criteria listed for property owners who wish to create a landscape which features native plants and birds/wildlife. The lists include several levels from the simple which is named Silver to the more complete which is platinum.
Essentially what is being suggested is an aid for those who see a decline in native habitats in the St. Louis area-plants, birds and other creatures.
A large part of the criteria involves getting rid of invasive plants which crowd out the native growth, especially Bush Honeysuckle. Let me just say that as nice as the blooms of Honeysuckle smell, these plants absolutely destroy everything else in their vicinity. And, they are very hard to erradicate, it takes constant work. That's not to say you shouldn't be tearing them out. You should.

I cut down, tore out, dug out, and just about everything I could think of to get rid of the wild honeysuckle bushes in my yard. It's been over six years. I still have it popping up in different parts of my yard. It is from Satan.
