Is there total anarchy in Oakland this week? The port shut down, Whole Foods getting hit by occupiers which sounds really weird since I'd have been willing to bet Whole Foods would be the food store of choice with those people. ATM's bashed. Baltimore officials want to cut the power to their occupiers camp of choice, Minneapolis is going to remove most of the porta potties and winterize the water lines which means shutting the water off. NY's mayor Bloomberg has finally gotten fed up with the disruptions in NY neighborhoods and is threatening to crack down.
And the Oakland Mens Warehouse store putting a sign of support in their window for OccupyOakland and protesters so pleased. But wait. The owner of the Mens Warehouse is in the 1% they are so against and the company is non unionized. How does this compute favorably?
What I don't get is why one group has been able to take over parks in major cities 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you or I wanted to use a city park for a family reunion we'd have to be out be dusk. We'd never have been able to just hog an entire public space for weeks on end pitching our tents, using local stores as bathrooms. So why has this been allowed. Protest away, but be finished by a certain time of day and then head on home.
