Ferdie and I were invited to the Scottish Games in Forest Park today by Kirt, a seminary staffer. Well, Ferdie was invited and I could come as long as the dog came.
Part of the games is a dog parade made up of various Scottish breeds. The announcer, who happened to be Kirt's wife, would call out one breed and the dogs and owners circled the main arena. Then another breed was called and etc.
Before this all began, we visited with other Goldens as well as Scotties, Cairn Terriers, Westies, Wolfhounds and various collie types.
And, who should we run into but our neighbors the Redekers and their dog Charlie. How fun.
Mary's son Max played the bagpipes in the morning.
Then we ran into some more neighbors, this time Perry and Diane with their Cairn Terrier, Uma.
Then Ferdie saw Kirt.
He loves Kirt. That's Kirt's grandson with the red hair. Isn't he a cute kid? Then Charlie decided he loves Kirt too.
Let me in there, Charlie said.
But there's nothing like Kirt.
Anyway, there were Westies-West Highland Terriers.
And lots of Scotties
A Gordon, A Scottie and an Airdale
Lots of these huge Wolfhounds
Huge dogs, some almost to your shoulder.
Kirt's wife Darlene on the stage announcing the breeds.
There were quite a few Goldens, but as Goldens are wont to do, they did not stay together, some went one way, some the other.
Unlike the Scotties who always stayed together, although they did allow a Westie or two to join them.
Thanks Kirt!
