Yesterday we went to the Rockville Town Center and the MAtH thought it would be nice to spend some time in a bookstore while I grocery shopped. Turns out the town center has about every kind of shop and restaurant but no bookstore.
On the way home Dale said it was odd there was no bookstore. Seems the future is bookstore-less And maybe library-less.
Bollingbrook Illinois opened a new library yesterday, possibly a glimpse into the future of libraries. IPads, Kindles and Nooks replace many books. The building is filled with flat screen TVs, computer terminals, self-check-out stations, automated book sorter and a cafe. There are books, but they are not the main event.
Does this trouble you? Think of it as libraries doing their job as depositories of information in ways their customers want it.
