Reformation Day-Halloween wondering

I wonder how many of our seminary kids will be dressed as Martin Luther tonight.

In any event, Ferdie and I are ready.

What's Ed up to today?

Ed Martin is out campaigning, his website is current as is his Twitter page. 

He's outworking Russ Carnahan, that's for sure.

Time to put Ed in and send Russ back to doing whatever it is that he does.

So what's Russ up to today?

Who knows?  Does anyone care that he doesn't seem to be doing anything?  The "latest news" on his campaign website is 11 days old and his headline stories are from August and June. 

His Twitter page is old as well. 

This guy is really really disinterested and disengaged. 

Durbin won't let us forget him

I'd forgotten about Dick Durbin this election cycle, afterall, he isn't running.  But, Friday I received an email from him, yes, an email from Dick Durbin.

He told me how important early voting is, and that "we've mobilized thousands of Illinois democrats to vote early" (oh no) but he still needs my help.  Seems they don't have all the resources to finish the job and asks me to make a 30 dollar emergency donation.  

This email falls into the pile with last week's email from Barack Obama who wants me to "chip in 3 dollars" and another from Michelle Obama who asks me to help get out the vote in University City. 

Then, dun dun dun, I see this Dick Durbin story in the Chicago Tribune:  "Sen. Dick Durbin could become majority leader if Harry Reid loses Tuesday."

Oh nooooooo.

493 years ago today, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the castle church in Wittenburg Germany.

This act began the Reformation and is celebrated in Lutheran churches most everywhere.

Intermittent outages

Charter has had issues for a good part of this past week.  Sometimes a link will work, other times it won't.  Start to do something and then see "server not found".

This has happened so often this week that I thought the problem must be with my computer.  It's frustrating to sit down at the computer and not know if you'd be able to do something or not.

And, worse, it turns out the issue is with an area wide mainframe.  But, neighbors who have called Charter get a tech guy come to the house who was never told about the mainframe problem and who attempts changing modums or computer settings.

Why can't they let the people who answer the help phones and the technicians know what the deal is? 

And, why can't they get this fixed?
