Jimmy Fallon last week: "Today, the White House announced a contest for high schools to have President Obama speak at their graduation. It's really exciting, because so far, Obama has only given speeches at 70 percent of the nation's high schools."
The St. Louis area will be the site of one of those 70 percent when Obama comes to St. Charles High School to push the health care bill. Students may not be in the seats, though, the affair is invitation only and "the stands will likely be filled with guests of the school and local party officials."
Friendlies. Go for show on the local news broadcasts.
The president will then go to downtown St. Louis for a fund raising event for Claire McCaskill and most likely featuring some members of what the Post-Dispatch admiringly calls "The First Family of Missouri Politics"-the Carnahans.

Guess Dems learned well from the last administration. Actually, I doubt BHO goes anywhere near the extremes Bush43 did to isolate himself from the public.

Obama has not held a press conference for almost 8 months.
Telepromter must be on the fritz!!
The staged event scheduled in St. Louis Wed. is by invitation only. Translation= No questions. Just like minded democrats. Independents and Republicans not welcome.

Precisely what Bush43 did for 8 years. Even most campaign events. Did you all speak up then, or was Bush43 given a pass??

And actually, like so many other times, Ron you are wrong. He held a press conference less than 4 weeks ago. Obama isn't shielding himself from scrutiny; he is subjecting himself to more questions in a variety of ways, not just from the "mainstream media," to keep him in greater contact with the world outside the White House.
On Super Bowl weekend, Obama talked at length with Katie Couric, the anchor of CBS Evening News. He took questions from House Republicans in a much-praised performance on January 29. He has met with Senate Democrats in Washington, hard-pressed workers in Ohio, and students in Florida, and he has addressed the concerns of YouTube users via the wonders of computer technology. Before that, he became the first president to appear on the Jay Leno and David Letterman late-night talk shows. He has given interviews to ESPN and People magazine. He holds periodic town-hall meetings across the country.

Both Reagan and Bush the elder came to Bloom while in office. No questions, just a staged and polished show with their cronies. Think they call that politics.
