Later today the venerable tourist site will change names and go green.
By the numbers:
1973-the year the Sears Tower was completed.
16,000-single paned windows will become triple paned.
10-boilers will be replaced with solar panels and wind turbines.
80-percent savings hoped for by doing the above.
3600-new jobs as a result of the green rehab.
1-live plant roof.
90-floors in the Sear/Willis Tower.
17-years ago that Sears left the tower for a new headquarters in the suburbs.
500-employees to relocate to the Tower.
350-million dollar makeover.

It still looked like the Sears Tower to me this morning, but I'll take another look tomorrow.

Comisky Park, Marshall Fields, Sears Tower- They will always be called that by the citizens. I'm sick of 'ego'seeking companies that feel compelled to change 'what has been for years'. Since 'Willis' is a London firm, I vote we go change the name of the London Bridge to 'American Bridge' or 'Big Ben' to some American company name.

of the "3600-new jobs" how many are "permanent" full time positions?
