Brown fat can consume huge numbers of calories when activated by cold temperatures. If you want to lose weight, stay cold, shiver, keep your rooms set between 61 and 66 degrees. Brown fat seems to go dormant when a person, or a mouse, is in a comfortably heated room.
Sounds like misery, but then, all weight loss processes are miserable in one way or the other.
