Inaugural luncheon to be Lincolnesque

It's no secret Barack Obama is mirroring Abraham Lincoln.  His train ride to Washington will follow the same route as Lincoln's, he will use the same Bible Lincoln used to take the oath of office, a phrase from the Gettysburg Address is the official theme of the Inauguration ("A New Birth of Freedom").

Now we learn that the official inaugural luncheon to be held after the ceremony and before the parade will feature a menu filled with foods Lincoln loved.

If you're eating along at home and want to prepare the same menu, the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies kindly links to a recipe page.

Be aware, however, that these courses look to take lots of time and many ingredients.

Appetizer-Seafood stew in puff pastry scallops, shrimp and lobster

Main Course-A Brace of American Birds (duck and pheasant)

Side-Molasses Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Side-Winter Vegetables  Asparagus (not a winter vegetable) Carrots, Baby Brussel Sprouts, Waxed Beans

Dessert-Cinnamon Apple Sponge Cake
