ESPN Strives to Eject Clutter From Its Site

At first glance I thought it might be ESPN's actual tv broadcasts which fill up the screen with so much extraneous stuff the game is barely visible.  But, no.   ESPN is planning to simplify their website's homepage which is so filled with links it drives sportsfans elsewhere.  This will be a good thing, but, back to the cable and local television.

There is just way too much scrolling and static stuff filling up news and sports programming screens.  During the presidential debates we tended to watch on PBS or CSPAN and were always taken aback by just how great things look when you can see everything full screen without all the extras.

Some news stations fill up the bottom, sides and top of their screen with words and logos, moving parts and even ads.  Enough.  We want to see the news or a football game full screen.  Stop already with the not so helpful add ons.  We're paying good money for digital cable and high def and only getting a half screen.

As to ESPN's scrolling scores at the bottom of the screen, just give us the scores.  We want to know how the White Sox, Cardinals, Rams etc did, we don't need to sit and wait through a whole lot of stats for each game between teams we aren't interested in.  Tigers 6 Cleveland 2 and then stats on the winning and losing pitchers, RBI's blah blah.   Just put up the scores.
